The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (SEP) is the premier reference work in philosophy, and covers an enormous range of philosophical topics through in-depth entries. Under the leadership of Principal Editor, Edward N. Zalta , the SEP brings together nearly two thousand philosophers and scholars from around the world to maintain a unique, truly dynamic reference work.

Our graduate students receive their training in a lively community of philosophers engaged in a wide range of philosophical projects. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: course in the history of modern philosophy. 4 units, not given this year.

Our short online courses take place in a virtual learning environment. Most courses are 10 weeks in duration and they all run asynchronously – they have no live-time meetings - so you do not have to be online at any specific time to take the course.
